Entering the Field of Pure Potential

What if the body is not simply something we move, stretch and strengthen but the vehicle through which we enter into relationship with life itself?

This is what we will explore in this workshop.

The ancient traditions spoke of Chi, Qi, Prana, the vital current of life moving through us. It is very possible to experience this as something tangible. Something that can be felt when we become quiet enough, present enough and sensitive enough to notice what is happening beneath the surface of our usual experience.

The body is our doorway into this experience. Through the body we feel. Through the breath we shift. Through movement we can loosen what has become fixed. Through stillness we become sensitive to what is more subtle. Through attention we begin to notice what has been there all along.

Through awareness in yoga, we can come to realise that we are not simply making shapes with the body. We are using the body as a way of becoming more intimate with ourselves, with life and with the mysterious field of which we are a part.

The moment before something takes form is a place of potential.

Before the movement, there is the possibility of movement.

Before the word, there is the possibility of expression.

Before something appears in our lives, there can be a feeling, a knowing, an intention.

This is the field of pure potential.

I believe intention has a role to play, and it is much deeper than positive thinking. Intention is not simply deciding what we would like to happen. It is an act of participation. We place something into the field of possibility and begin to orient ourselves towards it.

I have experienced too many moments of synchronicity to dismiss this as merely coincidence. Times when something held very clearly within has somehow been met from the outside. A person appears. An opportunity arrives. A conversation happens at exactly the right moment. Something felt or imagined begins to take form in ways one could not have orchestrated.

What if consciousness participates in reality in ways we don’t yet fully understand?

What if intention has a reach beyond the boundaries we normally imagine?

What if the field of possibility is responsive to the quality of consciousness we bring to it?

I don’t think we need to answer these questions intellectually. In the workshop, we will explore them through the body. We will use movement, breath, sensation and stillness to become more receptive to what is moving within. We will explore what happens when an intention is not simply held as a thought in the mind, but felt in the body and allowed to move through us.

Intention is not about controlling the outcome. It is about becoming available to a possibility and then allowing life to participate in how that possibility unfolds.

This is what I invite you to explore in Free the Chi.

Not to create more energy, but to remove some of what prevents us from feeling and moving with the energy that is already here. To soften the places that may have become contracted and to become more receptive, more alive and more available to what is ready to emerge.

The body becomes the intersection between the invisible and the visible, between potential and form, between what we sense inwardly and what eventually becomes expressed in the world.

There is a moment before every movement when everything is still possible.

That is the place we explore.

The space before the next breath. Before the next thought. Before the next choice.

This is the field of pure potential.

Come with your body. Come with your breath. Come with an intention. And leave some space for the unexpected.
